Description
No. 5 Martins Lane is a house dating from the 17th century, with alterations made in the 18th century. It features timber framing with brick infill and some parts rebuilt in rendered clunch rubble. The roof is covered with old plain tiles and has a brick ridge stack. The house has a three-unit plan and stands two storeys tall. The rendered front displays five two-light casement windows on the ground floor and four on the first floor, all of which have been renewed. The half-hipped roof includes a stack located to the left of the centre. The right gable wall retains timber framing on the first floor, as does part of the rear wall. There is a 20th-century extension at the rear on the right. Although the interior was not inspected, it is reported to have had back-to-back fireplaces.
