Description

The Old Forge is a late 17th-century house, extended in the 18th century. It is constructed of rendered timber framing and colourwashed rubble, with brick quoins, and has an old plain-tile roof with brick stacks. The building originally comprised three bays, forming a near-symmetrical arrangement on the right side of a four-window front. The ground floor has a 6-panel door positioned between three-light casement windows. The first floor has casement windows of 3, 1, and 3 lights. Two small roof dormers flank a central roof stack with three diagonal shafts. A later rubble bay features three-light casement windows to both the ground and first floors, and has its own gable stack. All windows have leaded lights. The right gable wall also features casement windows. The rear wall has some exposed timber framing.
