Description

No. 1 Bell Lane is a timber-framed cottage dating to the 16th or early 17th century. The front facade is a mix of painted brick and flint, roughcast plaster, and a hipped slate roof. The cottage is two storeys high with two windows. It features early 19th-century casement windows, with the ground-floor windows having cambered head linings and the first-floor windows slightly recessed. A door is located in a single-storey western extension. The upper storey juts out, which is visible on the return. The cottage, along with the adjoining barn and the garden wall of 102 Bell Street, forms a notable group.
