Description
Model Farmhouse, built around 1856-7 by William Wilkinson, is a farmhouse constructed of Flemish bond brick featuring yellow-brick headers and a gabled Welsh slate roof with a brick ridge stack. The building has a double-depth plan and stands two storeys high with a three-window range. A hipped tile pentice covers the central entrance, which consists of a five-panelled door with a glazed top panel and an overlight, flanked by canted bays that contain casement windows. The first-floor casements are adorned with gauged brick chamfered flat arches, and there is a central round window above. The interior has not been inspected. This farmhouse was built as the Home Farm of the Shirburn Estate and is included for its group value.
