Description
Chestnuts is a house dating from the late 17th century, with some alterations made in the 19th century. It is constructed from coursed limestone rubble and features an old plain-tile roof with a brick ridge stack located to the left of the center. The house has a three-unit lobby-entry plan and stands two storeys high with an attic, presenting a three-window range that is positioned at right angles to the street.
The entrance is marked by a plank door set beneath an open timber porch, which is located to the left of the center. To the left, there is an angled bay supported by brackets, topped with a hipped roof. To the right of the center, there is a three-light wood casement window with a segmental brick head, and a two-light wood casement window with a segmental brick head is positioned further to the right. A flat brick band runs between the ground and first floors. On the first floor, there are three-light wood casement windows to the left and to the right of the center, along with a two-light wood casement window to the far right. The house also features two gabled dormers and a half-circular stair turret at the rear. The interior has not been inspected.
