Description
Buckels is a house that dates from the mid-17th century, with alterations from the 19th and 20th centuries to its street front. The building features a flint plinth and large timber-framing on the left side of the ground floor, with rendered infill. The right side of the ground floor is constructed of red brick, while the attic is likely rendered over timber-framing. A brick ridge stack is located at the rear. The house is single storey with an attic and has a four-window range at the front, which suggests there was a former main range at right angles to the rear. The central entrance has a plank door with a moulded wood surround, and the left side of the ground floor is recessed. There are 20th-century casements on the ground floor, and the attic jetties to the left, featuring four gabled half-dormers with two-light casements. At the rear, there is a cross-wing with flint on the ground floor, large timber-framing on the first floor, and brick infill arranged in a herringbone pattern. The roof is covered with old plain tiles and has a cross gable. The interior has not been inspected but is likely to be of interest.
