Description
The School House is a mid-18th century building located on Wheatley Road in Stanton St. John. It is constructed from limestone rubble, featuring ashlar quoins and lintels, and has an old plain-tile roof with brick gable stacks. The building has a two-unit plan and stands two storeys tall with attics. The three-window front includes a four-panel door, which is sheltered by a 19th-century tiled canopy, positioned between three-light casements. On the first floor, there are three 2-light windows. The hipped roof features small end gables that connect with the stacks and a central gabled roof dormer. The interior has not been inspected. This building likely dates back to the establishment of the school in 1759.
