Description

The Star Inn Public House is a public house dating from 1723, with parts that are from the late 17th century. It is constructed of limestone rubble, with some areas rendered, and features squared quoins and timber lintels. The building has an old plain-tile roof with both brick and stone stacks.

It has a lobby-entry plan and has been extended. The structure is two storeys high and has a three-window front. To the left, there is a taller two-bay rendered range with casement windows that have two and three lights. The entrance is immediately to the right and features a single-panel door beneath a large old tiled canopy supported by bracketed posts. To the right of the entrance, there are three-light casements on both the ground and first floors, along with a later 20th-century casement window at the extreme right.

The roof includes a tall rendered-stone and brick stack aligned with the doorway, and another stack on the left gable, which has a stone base decorated with projecting weatherings and an oval recessed panel inscribed with "A/IG/1723". There are later rubble and brick ranges to the left that return to the rear. Inside, there is a staircase with early 18th-century turned balusters.
