Description
The Vine Public House is a public house located on Long Wittenham High Street. The building dates from the 17th century at the rear, with a front that was added in the mid-18th century. It is constructed of grey brick with red brick dressings and features an old plain-tile roof that is hipped to the right. There is a brick ridge stack positioned to the left of center and an end stack on the right.
The building is two stories high and has a four-window range. The entrance consists of a four-panel part-glazed door located at the center, which is topped by a flat hood. On either side of the door, there are three-light wood casements with segmental brick heads. The first floor features four 2-light wood casements, also with segmental brick heads.
At the rear, there is a timber-framed cross-wing that has painted brick infill and a thatched roof, along with a brick ridge stack. This wing is also two stories tall and has an irregular arrangement of casement windows. The interior has not been inspected.
