Description
Yew Tree Cottage is a cottage that dates back to the 16th century, with a 18th-century cross-wing and 19th-century additions. It features cruck framing and is constructed of red brick with grey headers in a Flemish bond pattern. The roof is made of old plain tiles and is half-hipped to the right. The building has an L-plan layout with the cross-wing on the left side. It is a single-storey structure with an attic and has a two-window range. There is a ribbed door leading to a lean-to porch at the junction of the cross-wing on the left. The cottage has two horizontal sash windows and a 19th-century three-light casement window with a segmental brick head on the right return of the cross-wing. There are also two gabled dormers. Inside, there is a cruck truss at the right gable end and a cruck truss blade in the center of the first floor. The cross-wing features queen post roof trusses. The ground floor on the right has a chamfered spine beam and joists. The 19th-century additions are located on the left and at the rear right of the cottage.
