Description

The Old Rectory is a building that has been converted from a rectory to a house. It dates from the late 17th century to early 18th century, with extensions made in the mid and late 18th century to early 19th century. The structure is built from coursed squared limestone rubble, with some parts rendered, and features an old plain-tile roof with brick stacks. It has a triple-depth plan and stands two storeys high with a three-window front. The front includes a rendered section from around 1800, which has ashlar corner buttresses and a central entrance flanked by a mid-19th century ashlar combined porch and window bay to the left. The first-floor windows consist of three, two, and three lights, all featuring wooden mullions and transoms.

The right end wall showcases a large mid-19th century canted two-storey bay window and connects to a three-window garden front made of rubble, which has mostly segmental-arched windows and a central mid-18th century hipped roof dormer. The right bay is the end gable of the rear range, which retains a late 17th century to early 18th century leaded casement window with a wooden cross frame in its rear wall. There is also a further hipped roof dormer located in the left end of the central range. Inside, there is an early 19th century marble fireplace.
