Description
Church Cottages, originally known as Church Farmhouse, is a farmhouse that has been converted into three houses. It dates from around 1700 and the mid-18th century. The structure is made of limestone rubble with squared quoins and some ashlar dressings, topped with a plain-tile roof featuring gable stacks. The building has a double-depth plan and stands two storeys high.
The front façade has four windows and includes the original three-bay section, which features leaded wood-framed cross windows on both floors. To the right, there is a later, wider bay with leaded three-light casements set under stone flat arches. A six-panel door, located in the right bay of the original front and beneath a brick segmental arch, is likely contemporary with the extension.
At the rear, there are two adjoining wings and a centrally placed third wing beyond them. Inside, the building has timber-framed cross walls and a butt-purlin roof.
