Description
Waterstock Mill is a mill and millhouse dating from the 16th to 17th century. It features a timber frame with brick infill set on a limestone rubble plinth, topped with an old plain-tile roof and brick ridge stacks. The building is designed in an L-shape and consists of one storey plus attics. The front, which faces the bridge, has a 20th-century door and casement windows, along with a 3-light gabled dormer positioned to the right of centre. The right corner has been rebuilt in rubble with brick quoins that include a stack. The left gable end displays complete framing with long braces and narrow panels, and the half-hipped roof has a large stack to the left of centre. The right gable wall extends into a 2-unit rear range featuring leaded casements with 2 and 3 lights, as well as 3-light gabled dormers. Although the interior was not inspected, it is noted to have a beam inscribed with the initials of Sir Henry Ashhurst and the date 1693.
