Description

The Malt House is an 18th-century building with a red brick facade, featuring grey brick headers to an older underlying structure. The facade is faced with stucco and incorporates bands between the floors. A coved wooden cornice sits above, and the roof is tiled. The building is two storeys and an attic, with three windows. All windows are sash windows with cased frames and glazing bars, including a two-storey bay window with a cornice that extends around the top. There are two gabled dormers in the roof. An architrave surrounds the front door, which is sheltered by a panelled and moulded door hood. The Malt House is part of a group that includes properties numbered 35 to 63 (the odd numbers), the buildings at the rear of number 37, the Town Hall, numbers 50 and 52, and numbers 62 to 66 (the even numbers).
