Description
Nos 7 and 9 on New Street are 18th-century buildings made of vitreous brick with red brick dressings and a brick dentil eaves cornice. They feature an old tiled roof that is hipped on the west side and stand three storeys tall. Originally designed symmetrically, they have two windows with sashes that have flush frames and glazing bars. However, the ground floor window on the western side was altered in the early 19th century to a small angular bay. Both entrances have six-panel doors with moulded architraves, and No 7 has a small flat hood above its door. These buildings are part of a group that includes Nos 1 to 33 (odd) and Nos 2 to 76 (even) opposite, along with the walls associated with Nos 32 to 38 (even) and No 40.
