Description
The Coach and Horses Inn is an inn dating from the late 17th century to early 18th century. It is constructed of limestone rubble with ashlar and brick dressings, topped with an old plain-tile roof featuring brick stacks. The building has a three-unit lobby-entry plan, a rear outshut, and a subsidiary wing. It stands two storeys plus an attic, with an additional one-storey plus attic section.
The front has three windows, with the lower wing projecting to the extreme right. The entrance features an old plank door situated between three-light segmental-arched casements. The first floor has casements arranged in groups of three, two, and three lights, all beneath a brick dentil eaves course, and all openings are framed with brick dressings. The roof includes four gabled roof dormers, one of which is a blind dormer aligned with the entrance and the ridge stack. The left gable wall, facing the road, displays heavy ashlar quoins and ashlar dressings around four small casements, as well as an additional stack. Inside, there are open fireplaces.
