BRIGHTWELL BALDWIN SU6594 15/17 Eagle Lodge and attached gate piers, gates and walls

GV II

Lodge, now house. Late C18, extended late C19. Front of coursed chalk rubble with brick dressings: English bond brick side walls: rendered rear extension. Hipped Welsh slate roof; rendered ridge stacks. 2-unit plan. One storey; one-bay gabled front. Flat brick arch over C20 two-light casement: similar arch over C20 door to right. Interior not inspected. Subsidiary features: limestone rubble wall with square ashlar pier to left. Ashlar gatepiers surmounted by eagles flank decorative iron gates to right; coursed limestone rubble wall with vertical brick dressings to right, extends to churchyard. Included for group value.
