Description
Brightwell Park is a former stable block, now a house, built around 1770 to 1790. It is constructed of limestone ashlar and features a hipped Welsh slate roof with stone ridge stacks. The building is arranged in a U-plan and has two storeys with a symmetrical four-window range, highlighted by a pedimented central two bays. The entrance consists of a six-panelled door set in a projecting moulded surround, flanked by one-light windows. The ground-floor outer bays have flat stone arches over 20th-century two-light windows, which are set in round-arched reveals. A string course runs along the building.
One-storey wings, which have been partly remodelled in the 20th century, flank a courtyard and are also pedimented with round-arched recesses. The walls are attached to square piers topped with eagle finials, enclosing the yard at the front. The interior has not been inspected. This building was formerly the stable block for Brightwell Park, which was rebuilt around 1790 and later demolished in the 20th century.
