Description

Ash Cottage is a pair of cottages, originally built in the early 18th century and later combined into a single house. The building was extended in the 20th century. It is constructed of limestone rubble with some brick dressings and likely some timber framing, and has a thatched roof with brick stacks. The original design comprised two single-unit cottages. The single-storey main section features an attic and has a two-window front. On the right, there is a plank door and a three-light casement window, both with segmental brick arches. A 20th-century casement window is positioned to the left. Two dormers are set under swept eaves on the first floor. The roof features stacks in the centre and on the right gable wall. The upper section of the rear wall, above the extension, is weatherboarded and likely timber-framed. The left gable wall is also weatherboarded and was originally a party wall. The interior has not been inspected. Historically, the cottages formed a row of three.
