Description

Linscot is a small house dating from the late 17th or early 18th century, with a 20th-century extension. It is constructed of colourwashed coursed rubble, with a thatched roof and a brick ridge stack. The original house follows a two-unit lobby-entry plan and has been extended. The front elevation is partially hidden by a large, single-storey 20th-century extension, which is not of special architectural interest. The earlier section of the house retains small-pane dormers and a small 20th-century bow window in the left gable wall, facing the road, which displays a Sun Insurance plaque on the gable. The roof is half-hipped and extends over the added bay to the rear. Inside, a large central stack supports back-to-back fireplaces. The building is included on the list for its group value.
