Description
Castle Farmhouse is a house dated 1696, located on the north side of Castle Square in Benson. The building features a 19th-century cross wing to the right and is constructed with a timber frame and painted brick infill, topped with a plain-tile roof and a brick stack. It is a single storey with an attic and has a three-window range that is positioned at right angles to the street.
The left return of the cross wing has a 20th-century panelled door with a flat hood above it. On the ground floor, there are two 20th-century casements. The centre of the attic features a flat-roofed dormer with a 12-pane sash window. There is a ridge stack located to the right of centre and an additional stack at the rear. The left return facing the road includes a 2-light casement on the ground floor and a gable end with a shaped hood mould. The first floor at the rear retains its timber frame.
