Description

The Drayton St Leonard War Memorial, made of Clipsham limestone, is situated on the High Street in Drayton St Leonard. It features a Latin cross atop an octagonal tapering shaft, which stands on a three-stepped octagonal base.

The base displays inscriptions in black-painted lettering. One side is dedicated to those who gave their lives in the Great War, reading: "IN MEMORY OF/ THOSE/ WHO GAVE/ THEIR LIVES FOR US/ IN THE GREAT WAR." Another side notes the years 1914 – 1918 and includes the phrase "R.I.P." Each of the five sides is inscribed with the name of an individual who fell in the First World War.

Additionally, an inscription for the years 1939 – 1945, along with a name, was added later on another side.
