Description
The White House is a house dating from the mid 17th century, with an early 19th-century addition on the front right. The main block is built of coursed stone rubble with ashlar stone dressings, while the 19th-century addition features coursed stone rubble with brick dressings. The roof is covered in old plain tiles and is hipped above the addition, with brick stacks at each end. The house has two storeys and an attic, with a three-window range. There is a plank door located on the left return of the addition. The windows exhibit irregular placement, featuring 19th-century wooden casements with brick surrounds, and the addition has 16-pane unhorned sash windows. A gabled full dormer is situated at the center of the roof.
Inside, there is a 19th-century straight flight staircase leading from the ground to the first floor, and a mid 17th-century winder staircase from the first floor to the attic. The roof structure is of double queen-post construction. The first floor and the left side of the ground floor each have brick chamfered arched fireplaces, while the right side of the ground floor features an open fireplace.
