Description
Millhouse at Stadhampton Mill is an early 19th-century building that incorporates fragments from the 17th century. It is constructed of limestone rubble with brick dressings, topped with a roof made of Welsh slate and old plain tiles, featuring brick stacks. The building has a central-stair plan and stands two storeys high. The symmetrical front of the main block has three windows, with a central round-arched doorway that includes a six-panel door, a fanlight, and a canopy supported by large square posts. Above the doorway is a 12-pane sash window, while the outer bays contain 16-pane sash windows. The shallow-pitched hipped roof has wide boxed eaves and stacks on either side. To the right, there is a lower tiled single-unit range that adjoins the mill, which has a secondary entrance and casement windows. Inside, the low range features stop-chamfered beams and joists, likely from the 17th century, along with a winder stair located beside the chimney breast.
