Description
The Red Cross Public House is a 16th-century timber-framed building that has undergone later additions and alterations. The street-facing facade is made of color-washed brick, topped with an old tiled roof. The building has two storeys and an attic featuring a gabled dormer. There are two windows on the front; the first floor has 19th-century casements, while the ground floor has sash windows. The side elevation facing Brewery Yard is constructed of brick and timber with irregular brick infilling. The Red Cross Public House is part of a group that includes Nos 37 to 43 (odd), White Cottage, the Malthouse of Henley Brewery, Nos 51 to 55 (odd), Wattle Cottage, and Nos 84 to 88 (even), as well as No 29 Thameside.
