Description
This is a barn, likely built in the early 18th century, located approximately 15 metres north of Middle Farmhouse in Brightwell Cum Sotwell. The structure is made of uncoursed limestone rubble with brick dressings at the plinth. It features large timber framing and mostly 18th-century weatherboarding, topped with a thatched roof that is half-hipped on the left side. The barn has four bays and includes double plank doors positioned to the left and right of the centre.
Attached at a right angle to the right side is a two-bay section of a former barn, which has been converted into a garage with a flat above. This section also has large timber framing and weatherboarding, with a thatched roof that has a plain-tile valley separating it from the main barn. The first floor features 20th-century windows, and the barn has a curved principal roof supported by a double queen post roof truss at the gable end.
