Description

Rofford Manor is a farmhouse dating from the late 17th century to early 18th century, with extensions made around 1730 to 1740. It is constructed of coursed limestone rubble with ashlar quoins and features a gabled roof covered with old tiles. The building has a large brick ridge stack with four diagonally-set flues and brick end stacks. The layout is a three-unit plan, possibly with a lobby-entry, which was extended by the addition of side wings to create a T-shaped plan.

The manor stands two storeys high with an attic and has a four-bay front arranged in a 2:1:1 pattern. The left side has a two-window range with a central 20th-century door, timber lintels over a 20th-century door to the left, and an early 19th-century sash window to the right. The late 19th-century casements are found on the first floor. The bay to the right has timber lintels over late 19th-century casements. The central gabled wing features 18th-century tripartite sashes in the right side wall and 8-pane sashes at the rear.

Inside, there are six-panelled doors, chamfered and stopped beams, and winder stairs next to the stack. An early 18th-century stone moulded fireplace is located in the rear room, while a similar fireplace and early 18th-century dado panelling can be found in the right room. The front wing contains a panelled room from around 1730, featuring a fireplace flanked by cupboards and framed by Doric pilasters and an entablature. The first floor has not been inspected but is likely to be of interest.

Additionally, there is a U-shaped wall partly enclosing the garden to the right, made of limestone rubble and English bond brick, with a 19th-century iron gate on the left side.
