Description

Portland Cottage is an early 19th-century house. The west front features a painted brick facade and a shallow-pitched, hipped slate roof. It is two storeys high with four windows, although the two northernmost windows are blank on the first floor. A canted bay window extends from the ground floor south of the front door. All windows are sash windows with glazing bars. The doorway includes pilasters and a dentil cornice, leading to a six-panelled door, the top two panels of which are now glazed. The north front, which faces the garden, has four windows, including a two-storey shallow canted bay at each end.

Portland Cottage, along with its garden wall, forms a group with Nos 45 and 51 to 61 (odd), No 46 (Magnolia Cottage, Northlea and its former coach house, Easby House and its former coach house), and Nos 70 to 84 (even) opposite.
