16, Turl Street

No 16 Turl Street is a house and restaurant located on the corner of Ship Street. The building dates from the 18th to 19th century and features a four-storey stucco front with a rusticated ground floor, a moulded cornice, and a parapet. There are cellars, and the core of the house at the back, extending up Ship Street, may date from around 1785, following the widening of Turl Street at the north end.

The east elevation has three sash windows on the upper floors, each with moulded cornices, although some are blocked. The ground floor includes two moulded window frames with architraves that have paterae. The early 19th-century doorway features an attractive fanlight. The south elevation facing Ship Street has sash windows similar to those on the east, with the first-floor window featuring an iron balcony and a blind box.
