Description
Bastion 5, located between Cornmarket Street and Catte Street, is a building that dates back to the 17th century. It consists of two houses, Nos 14 and 15, which feature a three-storey front that has been stuccoed in the 18th century. The first floor has an overhang, a moulded cornice, and a parapet. The 18th-century windows are framed with moulded wood; on the first floor, there are two-light sash windows and a single sash window, while the second floor has two two-light sash windows and a single tall sash window. The bastion, which is part of the City Wall, forms part of the kitchen of No 15. The interior may contain fittings from the 18th century. The Church of St Michael and Nos 1 to 6 and 8 to 16, which are consecutive, form a group with this building.
