Description
No. 5 Causeway is a shop and dwelling that likely dates back to the 17th century, with remodels and extensions made in the 19th century. The building features rendered timber framing and brick, topped with a plain-tile roof and a brick stack at one end. It has a single-unit plan that extends over a passageway, with an added rear wing. The building stands two stories high and has a front with two windows, which is probably timber framed on the first floor. This front includes two architraved 4-pane sash windows, one of which is larger than the other. There is a recessed 20th-century shop front that returns into the passage. The brick wing at the rear is also noted. The interior has not been inspected. It is possibly originally part of No. 7 Causeway, which is located to the right. This building is included for its group value.
