Description
Bentons is a building that combines two houses into one dwelling, originally constructed in the 17th century with later alterations and additions from the 19th and 20th centuries. It is made of squared, coursed ironstone and features a thatched roof. The gable is topped with stone coping and has a moulded kneeler on the right side. The building has brick stacks at the ridge and ends.
The layout consists of four units and spans two storeys, presenting a four-window range. There is a blocked entrance on the left side, while the entrance on the right has a 20th-century door and is flanked by 20th-century bay windows that share a continuous thatched roof. To the left, there are two- and three-light wooden casements, one of which is set within the stone frame of a 17th-century window that features a hood mould and label stops. On the first floor, there are two two-light and two three-light wooden casements, all with wooden lintels. The interior has not been inspected. The building is included for its group value.
