Description
Post Box Cottage is a building that consists of two houses now combined into one dwelling. It dates from the late 18th century and has undergone some alterations since then. The structure is made of squared coursed ironstone and features lowered slate roofs, with stone-coped gables and moulded kneelers. There are stone end and ridge stacks with brick shafts. The cottage has a two-unit and one-unit plan and stands two storeys high, with a total of three windows.
On the left side, the central entrance is accessed by stone steps and features a four-panelled door with a wood lintel. This entrance is flanked by three-light wood casement windows that have stone flat arches above them. There are two similar windows on the first floor, and a blocked cellar window also has a wood lintel. On the right side, there are two 2-light 20th-century windows on both the ground and first floors, which have chamfered wood lintels. The front elevations display three iron tie-beams. The interiors have not been inspected.
