Description

This is a house dating from the early 17th and early 18th centuries, with alterations made in the 20th century. It is constructed of square coursed ironstone and coursed ironstone rubble. The steeply pitched thatched roof extends over a projecting outshot on the right side. Brick stacks are situated at the ridge and ends of the roof. The house has a two-unit plan, arranged over two storeys plus an attic, and originally had a single window facing the road. The main entrance is located at the rear. The front elevation features a three-light wooden casement window with a chamfered wood lintel, along with a single-light casement within the outshot, both having wood lintels. A three-light casement window is also present on the first floor, again with a wood lintel. There are two dormers in the roof, fitted with 20th-century windows. Inside the earlier section of the house on the left, a surviving upper cruck truss is visible, though the saddle and collar are missing. There is an open fireplace with a chamfered bressummer and a window stair. Generally, the interior includes chamfered beams and old purlins. The 18th-century section has a wide elm board floor.
