Description

The Old House is probably a 17th-century house located on the west side of Philcote Street in Deddington. It is constructed of coursed marlstone rubble with wooden lintels, and has a concrete plain-tile roof with brick end stacks. The building consists of a 3-unit plan, built in two phases. The 2-storey front features 3 windows. The first floor has 3-, 3- and 2-light casement windows. The ground floor windows are all 3-light casements; the first bay, which includes the entrance, is likely a later addition and has chamfered lintels. The steep-pitched roof originally had a third stack to the left of bay 2. The interior has a large open fireplace backing onto the entrance area.
