Description
There is a row of six chest tombs dating from the 18th century, located along the wall approximately 28 meters to 10 meters west of the portico of the Church of St. Mary. These tombs are made of ironstone and most feature panelled sides, corner balusters, and moulded ledger slabs. The chest tomb closest to the road has an inscription that reads: 'Sacred to the memory of William Golby who died June 5th 1741 aged 37 years and of Ann his wife who died June 1750 aged 62 years.' The fifth tomb from the road bears an inscription in memory of John Gun, who died on June 16th, 1797, aged 69. This group of six chest tombs is prominently situated to the right of the main path leading to the church.
