Description
The Nut Tree Public House is a public house located in Murcott, likely dating from the 17th century, with a 20th-century extension. It is constructed from colourwashed limestone rubble and features timber lintels, topped with a thatched roof and brick gable stacks. The building has a three-unit plan, with a secondary range and extensions, and stands one storey plus an attic.
The main range has a three-window front, which includes two-light casements and dormers, with the entrance located in the right bay, accessed through a tiled 20th-century porch. The roof has flanking stacks. The lower range to the right includes an additional doorway and a three-light casement, along with a tiled rounded oven projection near the junction with the main range. The rear of the main range is mostly hidden by a 20th-century addition but still shows a rounded stair projection. Inside, there are chamfered beams and an open fireplace.
