Description
Marlake House is a public house that has been converted into a house. It dates from the early 18th century and was extended in the late 18th to early 19th century and again in the 20th century. The building is constructed of colourwashed limestone rubble and brick, topped with a thatch roof featuring brick gable stacks. Originally designed with a two-unit plan, it has been enlarged to three units with a 20th-century extension. The house is one storey plus an attic and has a symmetrical two-window front made of the earliest rubble range, featuring a central door flanked by two-light casements and two-light dormers. The roof has stacks on either side. A later brick bay, set back to the left, includes an additional door and small casements, while a 20th-century bay on the extreme left has a tiled roof. The interior has not been inspected. This building was formerly known as the Marlake House public house.
