Description
The Air Raid Warden's Post, also known as The White House, is a 17th-century building located on Moor Lane in South Newington. It is constructed from regularly coursed ironstone rubble and features a steeply pitched wood shingle roof with two brick stacks positioned to the left and along the ridge. The building has a three-unit plan and is a single storey plus attic, with a three-window range.
To the right of the building, there is a doorway with moulded and chamfered jambs, topped with a hood mould that has a label stop. The door itself is six-panelled, with two glazed panels. To the left of the door, there are two 20th-century wood mullioned and transomed windows, which have wood lintels. The attic contains three additional 20th-century wood mullioned and transomed windows, also with wood lintels. There is a small blocked rectangular window to the left of the door. On the right side, there is a gabled two-storey rectangular projection. The interior of the building has not been inspected.
