Description

The Deans is an 18th-century house located on the south side of Moor Lane in South Newington. Originally known as the Dun Cow, it is constructed of ironstone ashlar with a 20th-century tile roof, and features brick stacks to the ridge and left, and a stone stack to the right. The house has a three-unit plan with two storeys and an attic, and a three-window front. A six-panelled door, set within a moulded wooden frame beneath a wooden lintel and shell canopy porch, is located on the left-hand side. The ground floor has three wood mullioned and transomed windows, while the first floor features three similar windows with stop-chamfered wooden lintels; the window to the right has lead cames, crown glass, and a wrought iron casement fastener. Two gabled roof dormers are present. Architectural details include moulded stone kneelers and stone copings. The interior of the house has not been inspected.
