Description
The Old Wheatsheaf is a public house that has been converted into a house, dating from the late 18th century. It is constructed of colourwashed brick, featuring wooden lintels and some marlstone-ashlar quoins, with marlstone rubble and a Welsh-slate roof that has brick end stacks. The building has a two-unit plan and stands two storeys high. The symmetrical front has three windows and a brick storey band, with a central six-panel door that is sheltered by a canopy, flanked by wide five-light canted bay windows. The first floor includes casement windows with three, two, and three lights. The roof is steeply pitched, and the side and rear walls are likely made of stone. The interior has not been inspected. It is believed to have been built as a public house in 1782 and is included for its group value.
