Description
The Swan Inn is a public house dating from the 17th century, with later alterations that include the replacement of a mullioned window with casements. It is constructed of regularly coursed ironstone rubble and features a steeply pitched Welsh slate roof. The building has a brick end stack to the left on a rendered stone base, a brick lateral stack, and stone coping to the right. It has a three-unit plan and is a single storey plus attic, presenting a three-window range.
The central entrance has a renewed wood surround and an original chamfered lintel, with a 20th-century door. Flanking the entrance are gabled, two-storey canted bay windows. The bay window to the right retains part of its stone mullions, while the rest has been replaced with inserted casements. It also has fragmentary remains of a hood mould. The bay window to the left features casements and similar fragmentary remains of a hood mould. The attic floor has casement windows, some of which have wrought-iron casement fasteners. Between the bays, there is a three-light wood-mullioned window, and there are blocked dormer windows in the gables. Inside, the ground floor has chamfered beams.
