Description
Nos. 9 and 10 (Talbots), 11 (Kentucky Fried Chicken), and 11A (Wincotts) are a group of buildings located on South Bar Street in Banbury, dating from the early 19th century. The structures are made of painted brick and feature a hipped Welsh slate roof with a brick ridge stack. They stand three stories tall and comprise a total of seven window openings. The shop fronts are wood cased, and there are two entrances.
On the first floor, there are stone-cased sash windows with four panes each, while the second floor has similar smaller windows. The buildings also display imitation stone quoins and dentilled eaves. Inside Nos. 9 and 10, there is a stone fireplace with four-centred arched surrounds, which is said to have been removed from the Old Banbury Workhouses. Additionally, there is a three-light stone-mullioned window on the right end of the internal wall and a straight flight stair. No. 11 has a 20th-century remodelled ground floor, and the interior of No. 11A has not been inspected.
