Description
Crooked Thatch is a house dating from the 17th to 18th century, with possible earlier origins and a 20th-century extension. It is constructed from coursed stone rubble and features a thatched roof with gable ends and brick stacks at the gable ends. The main structure appears to have two distinct building phases.
The exterior is one storey with an attic and has a three-window west front, including an attic window on the right situated under eyebrow eaves. The windows are three-light casements with glazing bars, and the central ground floor window is part of a small bay window topped with a slate lean-to roof. There is a doorway located in the 20th-century single-storey extension on the left. At the rear, there are eyebrow eaves over the attic casement on the right and a small later single-storey wing on the left.
Inside, the house features chamfered ceiling beams and exposed joists, along with stone fireplaces that have chamfered timber lintels.
