Description
No. 86 Sheep Street is a shop and dwelling, likely built in the early 18th century, with alterations made in the 19th and 20th centuries. The building features part-rendered limestone rubble walls and has roofs made of Welsh slate and old plain tiles, with end stacks. It consists of a main range and a large rear wing, standing two storeys high plus attics. The front has two windows, rendered with a small moulded eaves cove, and includes 4-pane sash windows on the first floor along with a 20th-century shop front. The steep-pitched slated roof has a central two-light roof dormer, which may have been slightly raised, and a large rubble-based stack that is shared with The Bell Inn to the right. The rear wing, made of rubble, has a steep-pitched tiled roof with another dormer. The interior has not been inspected. This building may have originally been part of No. 84, The Bell Inn, and is included for its group value.
