Description
The building is a barn and nag's stable located to the south of Seredone House in Shenington with Alkerton. The barn dates from the late 17th century to early 18th century, while the stable is from the 18th century. The barn is constructed from uncoursed ironstone rubble and coursed, squared ironstone rubble, topped with a steeply pitched thatched roof. It features three bays, with central carriage doors that have a wooden lintel. There is a blocked carriage entrance at the rear with the date 1826 inscribed on the wooden lintel, and a small doorway with a wooden lintel that opens onto the lane.
Inside the barn, there is a trenched purlin roof supported by tie beams and collars, along with common rafters and stys. The stable, located on the left, is a single-storey unit made of squared coursed ironstone with a slate roof and a stone end stack. It has a stable door with an overlight, as well as pitchings and a drainage channel, which is now partly levelled.
