Description
The White Horse Inn is a public house dating from the late 17th century to early 18th century. It is constructed of coursed limestone rubble with some marlstone-ashlar dressings and features a Stonesfield-slate roof with brick gable stacks. The building has a three-unit through-passage plan along with a service range, standing two storeys plus an attic.
The main facade has a regular arrangement of small two-light casement windows with ashlar flat arches. The entrance is located between the second and third bays, sheltered by a large tiled canopy supported by simple benches. The steep-pitched roof includes two small gabled dormers and gable parapets with projecting moulded kneelers. To the right, there is a two-storey service bay featuring a two-light casement with a wooden lintel, which continues to the rear as a single-storey range. The rear of the main range has additional casements with flat arches.
Inside, the inn features stop-chamfered spine beams and fireplace bressumers, along with a butt-purlin roof.
