Description

A row of three cottages located in Duns Tew, dating from the early 18th century. The cottages are constructed from coursed squared marlstone, with some ashlar dressings and wooden lintels. They have a Stonesfield-slate roof covered with concrete plain tiles and brick stacks. The row incorporates a single-unit and two-unit plan layout. The cottages are two storeys high with an attic. The irregular four-window front features a larger, central cottage with four two-light casement windows. Number 16, on the left, has renewed three-light casement windows on each floor, and Number 14 has a renewed three-light casement window on the first floor and a two-light casement window below. The final window, along with the entrances to Numbers 14 and 16, are topped with ashlar flat arches. The steep-pitched roof includes gabled roof dormers on Numbers 14 and 16, and has four brick stacks. The interiors were not inspected. It is possible that the row was originally a single dwelling that was later converted into separate cottages.
