Description

Lilac Cottage is a small house located on Mill Street in Islip, dating from the early to mid-18th century, with an extension added in the late 18th century. The building is constructed of limestone rubble and features wooden lintels. It has thatched and Welsh-slate roofs, along with brick gable stacks. The house has a two-unit plan that extends to the rear and stands two storeys high. The front facade has two windows, which are two-light casements, with the upper floor windows being smaller. To the left of the centre, there is a doorway that features a canopy supported by carved wooden consoles. A slated section at the rear of the house returns from the left gable wall. The interior has not been inspected.
