Description
This is a 17th-century house, potentially with earlier origins. It is now used as a shop and dwelling. The structure is built from part-coursed limestone rubble, with wooden lintels above the windows, and has a thatched roof. The house originally comprised three units. It has two storeys plus attic space, and the front facade features three windows. A doorway is located to the left of centre, with renewed two-light casement windows to either side and to the right, and first-floor replacement casements. The left bay has vertical joints and built-in wallplates above and below the ends of heavy joists, indicating it may have originally been jettied. The roof features stacks to the left of centre and on the right gable, with small inset dormers at the rear. Inside, there is an open fireplace with a cambered, chamfered bressumer (a large beam over a fireplace) and chamfered ceiling beams. The house likely originally had a through-passage plan.
